# Register ## **Using Social Account:** * Take the express lane to registration by choosing the 'Sign in with Google' or 'Sign in with Apple' buttons. * A user-friendly pop-up window will appear; select your desired account, and voila! You'll seamlessly land in the app.

Come to the app and you will be taken to the app's home page. * If the verification email seems to be playing hide-and-seek in your spam folder, rescue it. Alternatively, press the "Resend Verification Email" button. * In the event of a typo in your email address, no worries! Hit the 'Sign Out' button, correct the details, and restart the registration process.

A download icon indicates the episode is already available in your Library under 'My Downloads.' Meanwhile, the headphone icon signals that you've already enjoyed this particular episode. **Seamless Listening Experience:** Tap any episode title that piques your interest, and voila! The title of the currently played episode is marked in distinctive blue for easy identification. Keep an eye out for the headphone icon, indicating episodes you've already savored. This means that if you delete the app, this data will be deleted and is non-recoverable. Additionally, on some operating systems (like Android), you can delete the app data from the settings > App section. Enjoy the convenience of an effortlessly curated listening log. * **Managing Your Listening Log:** Should you ever wish to tailor your listening log, head over to Library > My Listening Log. Here, take control of your log's content by swiping left on any episode you want to remove. A simple gesture, and the episode is swiftly deleted from your log. With auto-logging, relish the simplicity of a log that mirrors your listening journey, effortlessly documenting each episode you enjoy. If you choose to delete the app, the listening log data, along with downloaded episodes and the Recently Played log list, will be deleted. Therefore, please refrain from deleting the app data in the app settings of your device or uninstalling the app from your device. {% endhint %} # Where are my Liked Shows When updating from version 1.9 to 2.0, there are two breaking changes: your current Liked Shows and Downloads will not be available in version 2.0. However, you can add any number of shows to 'My Liked Shows' by tapping on the heart button next to each show on the show listing page. Our previous data structure and code had flaws. In order to add all the new features in the new version 2.0, we have rewritten the data structure and app code from scratch, resulting in the loss of those two things. We sincerely apologize to you on this account. {% hint style="info" %} If you have hundreds of 'Liked Shows' that you would rather not add manually again, you can request a one-time data transfer. In this process, we will transfer the shows list from the old database to the new one. {% hint style="info" %} We have increased the sleep timer cap from 10 to 15 episodes, which is available from version 2.0.1 and above. Why is there a need for a sleep timer? The average duration of an episode is 20 minutes, so setting the timer to 300 minutes (or 5 hours) is a good way to give your ears and device a break. 😄 Moreover, our CDN bills are reaching new highs, thanks to users who keep listening even while sleeping. To make it reasonable for both parties, a very generous cap is applied to the sleep timer. However, it's important to note that this timer is per-session based. Beginning July 1st 2022, we have migrated the database to Google Firebase for enhanced performance and security. Our existing database will be phased out by the end of August 2022. We have a system in place to minimize the friction for our users and transfer your subscription data to the new servers with minimal efforts. ### What this means for you - how to migrate your existing subscription automatically? * Please update the OTR app to version 1.9 from the [Appstore](https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1438072504) or [Playstore](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsstation.oldtimeradioshows) (please DON’T delete your existing app version) * Once you open this new app version(1.9) for the first time, we have a system in place that detects your existing subscription and you will get the alert that the system has detected your subscription (screenshot below) Press “OK” on the alert. ![](/files/M6TjU7M4ERUnMYVwBm1A) * To save this subscription information, you need to Sign-up for a new account. Please use [“Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Apple”](/v1.9/sign-in-and-signup/how-to-sign-up#sign-up-using-social-accounts) to create a new account with just one click and without the hassle to remember the username and password. However, if you want to create the account manually using email and password, follow the instructions [here](/v1.9/sign-in-and-signup/how-to-sign-up#sign-up-using-email-address-and-password) * That's it - your new account is created, subscriptions information transferred and now you can listen to the shows as usual ### What if my subscription is not migrated automatically? If you have updated the app from version 1.8 to 1.9 without deleting the app, our [automated system](/v1.9/database-migration-announcement#what-this-means-for-you) should work to migrate your existing subscription data to this new account. However, if for some reason, this doesn't work, please go to the "Settings" tab(first from right) in the app version 1.9 and press "Restore Purchase" option. ![](/files/ULCRyDjRxmVrI5ceDhv6) This will open the login page for old database, you can use your previous username/email and password to login and save the subscription information to your new account. If you have forgot the password for your old account, please click the "Forgot password" link on this page and we will send you the password reset email. Please go to the "Settings" tab(first from right) in the app and then press the "Support" link and email us with your issue in detail. If this is about subscription, please mention the email address that being used to purchase the subscription in the past. {% hint style="info" %} Please note that the "Liked Shows" and "Liked Episodes" from old database will not be migrated to the new servers. But you can still add any show and episode to these list(Liked Shows and Liked Episodes) in the new database. {% endhint %} # How to Sign up {% hint style="info" %} Please note that accounts created on old database can not be used in this new app (because this app uses new database) Therefore, you need to create a new account to access the shows in this app. Read [this article](/v1.9/database-migration-announcement) for the announcement on database migration. {% endhint %} To create new account, you have three options: 1. Sign-in with Apple 2. Sing-in with Google 3. Manually sign-up using email address and password ### Sign-up using Social accounts If you have opted for Social sign-in using Apple or Google, then the process is quick and just need one or two taps to enter into the app. So we highly recommend to use these options. {% hint style="info" %} If you opt to Sign-in with Apple and choose to hide your email, don't remove the account/email that is associated with OTR app in the iCloud settings. If you delete that account/email, you will not be able to login back to the app. {% endhint %}

### Sign-up using email address and password However, if you want to sign up using email address and password, please follow the steps below Step 1: Tap on Sign up text on the screen Step 2: Enter all the required fields - email address, password and repeat password {% hint style="info" %} Please make sure to use the valid email address to create the account. At this point, check your inbox for the email from OTR Support. Open this email and click the verification url. Step 4: We will send you an email with instructions to reset the password. Please click on the link in the email and choose a new password Step 5: Once done, please come back to the app and enter the email address , new password and then click "Continue" button. You are now logged in the app. {% hint style="danger" %} If the above process doesn't work for you, please follow the guidelines below {% endhint %} If the above automated process to reset the password doesn't work for you, please reach out to us through "Trouble Sign in" link on the [Sign-in](/v1.9/sign-in-and-signup/how-to-sign-in) screen in the app # Free trial Every new account comes with 3 day free trial. During this time period, you can check the complete version of the app without any blockage. We don't hide any show or feature during free trial. This gives you true picture of the app content and features. {% hint style="info" %} If you decide not to buy subscription after 3 day trial ends, you don't need to do anything on your behalf. **This means that we don't charge you anything automatically.** {% endhint %} # How much it cost After your 3 day free trial period ends, you can choose to subscribe to one of three available options: ### One month subscription 1 Month subscription cost is **USD 2.99** ### Three months subscription 3 Month subscription cost is **USD 5.99** (effective per month cost is approx. To make sure the subscription is recognized on new device, please sign in with same account. # Checking subscription information To check how much time left in your subscription, please go to settings tab and follow the text in the second row - subscription {% embed url="" %} # My subscription is not updated All purchases are handled by Apple. Mostly, it just take seconds after purchase that your subscription information is added to our server against your account. However, in certain case, depending on jurisdiction or payment type - your subscription information is not updated on our server. In this case, the app keep trying to add the information to server. But to make your account active as soon as possible, please fill out and submit this form: After receiving the submitted form, we will manually add the subscription against your account. # Renewing Subscription How to renew my OTR Subscription Once your current subscription expires, please go to the “Settings” tab (first from the right) and then tap on the second row “Subscription”, select your desired plan, pay through Apple or Android(depending on the platform) and the subscription days will be added to your account. {% hint style="info" %} Point to Note {% endhint %} Please remember that your existing subscription needs to totally expire before you can buy the new one. We have a system in place, so when your current subscription expires and you try to listen to any shows, the app will show you the pop-up to resubscribe. Therefore, you don’t need to go to the “settings” tab to see how many days have left in your subscription. # How to browse shows Our [Old time radio shows app](http://oldtimeradioshows.co) is a collection of **710+ shows with 61,800+ episodes and 1,875,000+ minutes of playback time.** {% embed url="" %} ### **Browse by Genre** To make this treaure as accessible as possible, we have sorted the 710+ shows in 14 genres - all of them is visible on the home screen of the app. Just pick a genre, select show, select season (if applicable) and tap the episodes to start listening. ### Featured Shows We have handpicked these great shows that you can access from the top section of the home page. Just scroll left to see the complete list. ### # How to search show by keyword ### Search show by keyword Our collection contains more than 710 shows so it is handy to know how to search for your favorite show. Step 1: From home page, tap on "all shows" or any genre Step 2: On top, you can see a search bar. Tap it and enter the keyword of show that you are looking for. Our real time search will give you list of shows matching your query. {% embed url="" %} ### Sort the shows Do you know that within "all shows" or any genre page, you can sort the shows by title or number of episodes. Step 1: From home page, tap on "all shows" or any genre Step 2: Tap on the plus (+) button on top right corner to access the sorting options. {% embed url="" %} # How to add a show to favorite Our app has more than 710 shows and maybe you are looking to make a list of your own favorite shows. To do that, follow these steps: Step 1: From home page, select all shows or any genre Step 2: Next to each show, you can see a three dot button (...) Tap on it Step 3: Choose "add to favorites" in the opened menu on the bottom of the page Step 4: Now you can access all your favorite shows from the "Favorite shows" section on the home page tab. {% embed url="" %} # How to listen episodes It is quite simple and straightforward, just follow these steps: Step 1: Select a show -- from home page. Step 2: Select the season, if applicable (For large shows, we have divided the episodes in number of seasons) Step 3: Select the eoisode from the list of episodes and enjoy the program {% embed url="" %} {% hint style="info" %} You can also listen to your downloaded episodes or episodes marked as favorite - directly from 'downloads' and 'favorites' tab, respectively. {% endhint %} # Audio player settings Our OTR app comes with two audio player: * a mini audio player that floats across all the tabs in the app. It has basic feature to play/pause * full featured audio player with extended features ( play, pause, skip 15 seconds, draggable timeline, next and previous episode) {% embed url="" %} # How to add an episode to favorites Our OTR app has more than 61,000 episodes, so we gave you an option to add your favorite episodes to your personlized collection of "favorites" Step 1: Go to the episodes page Step 2: Next to each episode, you can see a three dot (...) button. Please tap on it Step 3: Now choose, "add to favorites" from the menu bar opened on the bottom of the page. Episode is now added to your favorites, which can be accessed from the "favorites" tab in the app {% embed url="" %} # How to download episodes Our OTR app give you option to download the shows for offline access. There are two options to download - single episode download and batch download ### Download single episode Step 1: Go to the any page that lists the episodes Step 2: Tap on three dot (...) button next to each episode and choose "download". Episode will start downloading and can be accessed from the downloads tab of the app {% embed url="" %} ### Batch download Step 1: Go to the any page that lists the episodes Step 2: Tap on the download button on the top right corner of the page Step 3: Select the episodes to download (maximum 20 episodes) Step 4: Tap on download button again to start batch download. You can see the progress of download on the page. Once finished, you can access all the downloaded episodes from the download tab in the app {% embed url="" %} # How to delete episodes You have downloaded many episodes and now would like to create some free space in your mobile device by removing some episodes. To do that, follow these steps: Step 1: Go to download tab in the app Step 2: Tap on the delete button on the top right corner of the page. Step 3: Select the episode(s) that you wish to delete. Step 4: Tap again on the delete button on top right corner. All selected episodes are deleted. {% hint style="info" %} Delete feature is irreversible - that is, you can't recover the deleted file but you can download the episode again. {% endhint %} {% embed url="" %} # Sleep timer If you wish to stop the playback after certain number of episodes, please follow these steps: Step 1: Go to the settings tab in the app Step 2: Tap on row starts with "Playback setting ..." Step 3: Choose the number of episodes after which you want the playback to stop {% embed url="" %}
